Theoretically, Boston should be a really good fit for Irving given you're adding an elite scorer to a bunch of defensive players, high IQ guys, depth, a great coach and proven winners. If you need a floor general and already have players who can score, you go with Lowry. Irving was 4-for-9 with the three-ball and completed his line. Luka Doncic added 33 points on 10-for-20 shooting, but the Mavericks still couldn't pull off a victory, dropping the game at home 124-121. Not taking into account age, injuries, etc., if a team already has a non-PG who can run the offense, I think you go with Kyrie. Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving was on fire against Minnesota on Monday, shooting 15-for-23 from the field en route to a game-high 36 points. Meanwhile, Lowry led a team to three 50+ win seasons for the first time in franchise history, making mediocre bench players look better than they really are (Patterson, Biyombo, Vasquez, etc.) and playing alongside a star who so far hasn't given the Spurs more wins in the place of role players/scrubs (Danny Green/Kyle Anderson), despite playing the best basketball of his career. And now he's led a team that were one game away from the NBA Finals to a 9-7 record. Pre-LBJ Irving led his team to win multiple #1 draft picks in a row, a true tank commander. If we're talking about regular season only and past performances, the worst two regular seasons since 2008 that LBJ has had in the East were with Irving. In terms of playoff performances, Kyrie wins, but we shouldn't act like he's untouchable there. Meanwhile, Lowry has had one terrible playoff run, three mediocre showings and one pretty good post-season. Kyrie had one great post-season with LBJ, but I don't think he faced any stifling defensive teams. Luckily, he had LBJ who automatically makes the finals every year in the East. His first playoff run was also pretty bad pre-injury. If his playoff run ended there like it did for Lowry, he'd be labelled as a choker if he were on this team. If you look at Kyrie's last playoff run with Cleveland, Kyrie had pretty bad scoring efficiency for the first two rounds. Lowry's also near the end of his prime age-wise and may drop off at any time.I think his play is closely correlated with the maintenance of his body given his style of play. Lowry's game is also easily affected by minor injuries, but Irving is pretty injury prone as well. Lowry can get hot and cold real quick, but on average.Lowry has better intangibles. The difference between the two is that Kyrie's a much better and more versatile scorer with better shooting consistency. If these two guys switched teams, are the Raptors still 13-4? Is Boston 9-7? I think Raps get worse and Boston get better if they switched. RaptorsLife wrote:Irving has been and always will be better than Lowry
